Described by: B Reichold Title Blancpain SS Fifty Fathoms Flyback Chronograph MIB
Description: You are bidding on a Mint in Box Blancpain SS Fifty Fathoms Chronograph. A private collector who purchased it from an authorized dealer owned this magnificent watch. It was only worn a few times and traded in. A chance at owning a timepiece of this caliber is what we offer. With a retail of almost $15,000.00, we would be insane to sell this with no reserve, but that is exactly what we are doing. The Watch is in pristine condition except a few very small scratches on the buckle and case back. Good luck!Blancpain created the first modern diver's watch, the famous 'Fifty Fathoms' in 1953. It was the first serious (and serially produced) watch manufactured that met the strict requirements of professional divers, explorers and engineers. In 1952, the French Ministry of Defence entrusted Captain Bob Maloubier and his lieutenant Claude Riffaud with creating an elite unit of military 'Combat Divers'. There simply was nothing on the market that could withstand the rigors of extreme underwater conditions. The two officers went to Blancpain with a specific set of requirements which were as follows: watertight up to 50 fathoms (91.45m) self winding movement stainless steel case with screwed back and crown large luminous numerals and hands unidirectional rotating bezel displaying markers to help divers calculate their bottom time while under waterAnd what emerged was the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms (name derived from the fact that it was water resistant to 50 Fathoms).
All the words on dial 1B, 1735, Blancpain, Fifty Fathoms, Flyback, Swiss Made
Numerals Luminescent Arabic, Luminescent Trapezoid and Luminescent Triangle markers.
All words on case and case back Blancpain, No. 271, Fifty Fathoms, Antimagnetic
Case markings: Blancpain, No. 271, Fifty Fathoms, Antimagnetic
Movement Type: Caliber 1315 Automatic self winding FLYBACK chronograph movement with date indication.
Band and total watch length: Approx 10" & Approx 250mm
History of the company In 1988, Blancpain a brand with historical connections dating back more than two and a half centuries unveiled a complete watch collection dedicated to complicated mechanical watch making. Born on the premise that it would never make a quartz watch, Blancpain has regularly mastered the most complex horological feats of excellence. Indeed, the first Blancpain collection included the six most difficult timekeeping legacies: the ultra slim watch, the moon phase, split seconds chronograph, perpetual calendar, tourbillon and minute repeater. Every timepiece the brand creates is dedicated to the master watchmaker that bears its name, and pays homage to the traditional art of watch making begun by him.Blancpain's expansive history is inextricably tied to the rural village of Villeret, nestled in the Jura Mountains, where Jehan Jacques Blancpain set up shop in 1735 in a farmhouse and gradually built a full fledged watch making atelier. Blancpain's work was steeped in invention and innovation. These are the benchmarks of the brand even today. Blancpain garnered international acclaim in 1991, when it unveiled the now famed "1735" model one of the most complex timepieces in the world. Six years in the making, the 1735 housed a movement comprised of 740 parts and offering a wealth of different functions. Other critical accomplishments of the 1990s included creating the smallest self winding chronograph, and creating the ultra complicated Self Winding Tourbillon Split Seconds Flyback Chronograph watch. In the year 2000, The Swatch Group acquired Blancpain and CEO Nicholas Hayek vowed to continue in the brand's rich tradition. Following this creed in 2001, Blancpain unveiled the Quattro platinum watch an elegant self winding timepiece housing a tourbillon regulator, perpetual calendar, flyback chronograph, and split seconds chronograph. The 39 jeweled movement features a platinum rotor and consists of 432 parts each hand finished to exacting detail. In 2002, Blancpain unveiled a very classic new watch collection appropriately named Villeret. Bold in size and endowed with signature Blancpain aesthetic references (including long hands, a slender bezel and a stepped case), the Villeret series of timepieces combines the beauty of a clean, uncluttered face with the technical sophistication of complex automatic movements. The most recently unveiled Villeret watch, referred to as the 4040, is a 40mm wide case of 18 karat white or red gold that houses an extra slim self winding movement with hour and minute displays and a power reserve indicator. Water resistant to 30 meters, the watch features a silvered opaline dial with Roman numerals and long, leaf shaped hands.

Watch quality terms To further explain our grading we offer the following definitions for our watch conditions we hope this clarifies the terms for the public and watch community.
Ultra Mint or New Old Stock (NOS) or New: Never sold to the public, may be virtually without flaw but may show minor signs of shop wear from being placed in and out of showcase. If original box is present box may show dings or minor tears. Mint or Like New: Excellent condition, like new may have been carried a few times and put away in safe deposit box or drawer. Box if present may show marring. Minty or As New: Very Good to excellent condition, one the three of dial movement or case must being close to new condition. One (1) of the following (dial movement or case) may have minor imperfections such as faint hairlines, minor brass on stem area, minor screwdriver marks to movement or case back. But watch must run and look good. Box may or may not be present and may be in any condition. Good (Not Minty): Runs, a good carrying watch may have some minor brassing of case, but dial and movement are presentable. A watch you would be proud to carry. Fair (Far from Minty): May or may not run, very salvageable, will clean up nice with a standard cleaning and minor part replacement. Poor (the anti Minty) Rough, good parts watch, may need heavy restoration to run correctly.
To Fix, 2 Fix, for Parts, 4 Parts This watch may or may not have all its parts and may or may not run. Expect it to only have only what is photographed and though it may tick when wound or rocked do not expect it to run. We have not defined a term for watches that are total junk and only used for parts, this term is kind of an enigma.

Shipping, Insurance and Return Policy Back to Top Shipping information We endeavor to have accurate shipping costs in each auction, please note the shipping costs listing in the Shipping section reflect professional packaging and clean packing material and generally double boxed. eBay's shipping calculators do not always accurately reflect dimensional weight of packages the proper shipping can be found in the shipping calculator in the auction. Check for accurate shipping quotes before you bid. All USPS shipping will require signature delivery if the package cost exceeds $200.00 the cost will be reflected in the shipping and handling. Our in house shipping is done under digital camera to verify what is placed in packages and in what condition. Most items will be packed by our in house shipping professionals. We can combine up to 5 items in a package for smaller items, if you are an international customer we will not be able to combine items in excess of $250.00 total and ship USPS. Often paintings or larger items cannot be combined. Please contact us if you are purchasing items that are of disparate size to see if they can be combined. Outside professional shippers are used for larger items generally noted in auctions due to size or value. Shipping is calculated with eBay's shipping calculators, yes there is a modest handling fee. When calculating your shipping please take note of the "estimated packaging size" in the auction, some items will be assessed a heavier weight by the USPS or UPS based on the exterior dimensions of the package. We use clean boxes and pack with bubble and peanuts so your item arrives safe and intact. This boxing may increase the size of the package to reflect what seems to be greater shipping. Take the size of the package into consideration with your calculations. For individuals that are picking up their items please check out with our checkout system and you must bring in the printed receipt. Customs duties, fees, taxes or brokerage fees are the responsibility of the purchaser and we will not falsify customs documents to assist you in evading your countries lawful taxes. We reserve the right to report any unlawful requests to both eBay and if required State and Federal authorities. Insurance is required on international shipments. Insurance and Declared Value Coverage Because of the nature of the items we generally ship UPS and often USPS declared value coverage is not usually applicable. We utilized third party coverage for shipped items (because of the limitations on declared value coverage for the type of items we sell) for UPS shipments of at least 0.75 per $100.00 and we highly recommend choosing the declared value coverage option. If you choose not to purchase declared value coverage you are absolving Hess Fine Art and all entities of any liability if the item arrives damaged or fails to arrive.
Our 3rd party insurance for domestic USPS shipments ranges from $1.00 to $3.00 per $100.00 depending on item shipped and where shipped. Our 3rd party insurance for international shipments is $3.75 for the first $100.00 and $1.00 for every $100.00 or portion of after the first $100.00. If you make arrangements to not purchase declared value coverage/insurance you are absolving Hess Fine Art and all entities of any liability if the item arrives damaged or fails to arrive. In the event of package damage or tampering please contact the delivery company first, then contact HessfineAuctions and we will assist you in a claim if you purchased insurance of declared value coverage.
